We offer a service supplying and delivering turf to the Durham area being all DH postcodes, five days a week. Our wagons have detachable forklifts attached to them which allows us to drop your turf directly onto drives. Obviously, this depends upon the access we can get to your drive. Should you order prior to 3.00pm the day before you require your delivery we can generally supply you with your turf the following day. You will be contacted with a time of delivery the evening before.
Our turf is 40cm wide by 250cm long and each roll is 1 square metre. The turf is cut to approximately 15mm in depth. When you are aiming for a flush finish against paving etc. it is advisable to take this into consideration. Our turf is delivered on pallets and a full pallet holds 68sqm turf (68 rolls) and weighs approximately 1.2 tonnes.
We cut your turf the day before delivery in order that we can ensure you receive your turf in the best condition possible. In very adverse weather conditions i.e. very hot weather, your turf may well be harvested the day of delivery. We would, however, advise you to lay your turf as soon as possible after you receive it, but it can be left unrolled for up to two days during the Autumn/Winter months if you keep it moist.
Our turf contains a seed mix of a fine fescue grass and a rye grass which provides a hard wearing, domestic turf, suitable for domestic gardens, lawns, verges and amenity areas.
You can place your order online through our website, or alternatively, you can telephone the office and either Wendy or Emma will be happy to take payment from you by card. We are also happy to accept cash on delivery, however, if you are not at the premises when the turf is delivered we will be unable to drop the turf until it is paid for.
We also supply topsoil and fertiliser, Any queries regarding our turf, topsoil, fertiliser or delivery can be answered by you ringing 01325 339259.
The topsoil we supply is screened dry topsoil. We supply this all year round to the Durham area. It is delivered in 1 tonne bulk bags or for larger amounts we can arrange for up to 20 tonnes to be delivered in bulk loads. The bulk bags are delivered using our own wagons which have a detachable forklift meaning that we can drop the bags where the customer prefers depending on access. Generally, if the area is wide enough for a car to be driven through then our forklift should be able to gain access to the area.
We supply screened virgin topsoil. This means that the soil has been taken directly from a site that was once a field and, therefore, is a much better quality product than recycled soil. Be aware that if you buy recycled topsoil from other sources it could well be full of stones and other debris.
Our soil is stored indoors and screened prior to delivery, therefore, ensuring you receive a product which is dry and easier to work with. This is imperative if you are using it for turfing and require a thin, level finish.
Our bulk bags hold 0.7 cubic meters and weigh a metric tonne. Please note, many companies will sell bags of soil that only hold approximately 800kg.
In order to work out the quantity of soil you will require, a rough guide; one bag will cover 30sqm with 1 inch of soil. Please call us if you are unsure and we will try and help you with this. 01325 339259.
We send away samples of our soil to be analysed on a regular basis for testing in order to meet the British Standard 3882 so that they can confirm that it can be used for a variety of purposes such as turfing and planting.
Our soil is suitable for turfing work and planting. A number of our customers have created raised beds with our topsoil and they have been very happy with the results.
If you have existing soil which requires a little improvement please see our page on soil conditioner which we can supply you with too.
